Assuming Guild Wars has an active playerbase of...maybe 100,000 (and that's being generous), that's 1% bots, whereas in WoW, with its 9,000,000 player base, that's 0.11% bots.

Significantly different.
considering zinger has no actual figures to work with what he is giving is commonly known as a *WAG*

and my neighbor the cop would say definitely HUA from start to finish

You're still making an assumption, which still isn't proof.

Oh, and congrats A-Net

It is also undeniable gold has less use in GW.

Quote:
Brighton, England, August 21st, 2007— The Guild Wars® franchise of online role-playing games has broken the four million units sold mark in just over two years. Published by NCsoft® and developed by ArenaNet®, the Guild Wars series (consisting of Guild Wars, Guild Wars Factions™, and Guild Wars Nightfall™) has set the standard for online co-operative and competitive play with award-winning content and a subscription-free business model. Since the first campaign launched in 2005, Guild Wars has developed legions of loyal fans who are hotly anticipating the August 31st release of the game’s first true expansion, Guild Wars: Eye of the North™.

“The Guild Wars phenomenon has never lost momentum since its launch in 2005. Players continue to join and stay loyal to the franchise, thanks to a unique business model that revolutionised online roleplay gaming,” said Geoff Heath, CEO, NCsoft Europe. “ArenaNet’s hard work and dedication has helped to make NCsoft the leading online gaming publisher in the world. We are all excited about the future of Guild Wars, with the expansion ready to be released and Guild Wars® 2 on the horizon.”

“The Guild Wars brand has been extremely popular with GAME customers; since the first release in 2005 the titles have gone from strength to strength. No doubt the originality of the proposition has been key to its ongoing success,” commented Lisa Morgan, Chief Executive, GAME Group Plc. “With the forthcoming new release of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, I am certain the brand will reach new heights.”

“ArenaNet is delighted by the continued success Guild Wars has enjoyed across Europe and around the world. Our European players are exceptionally dedicated to the game, and they are at the heart of this exciting milestone,” said Jeff Strain, co-founder, ArenaNet. “The response to the Guild Wars World Championships held at the Leipzig Games Convention last year was nothing short of spectacular, and we look forward to generating even more excitement within our community this year with the launch of Guild Wars: Eye of the North.”

You know Mr. Strain, less marketing BS and more effort to bring the BMP to the "exceptionally dedicated" fans!

And how many will be active for the debut of Gwen? 100k?

And how many banned accounts are there now total?

I for one bought 8 of those units (and regularly play on 6 having given 2 as unopened gifts), how about you all? How many bots were banned last month? lessee, lets say for the sake of a *non-official-made-up-number* 6000 bots banned last month. Now then, 6000 accounts is 6-18k units. Apply that math to whatever the actual figure is to get the range of units banned last (x) period. ;P

4 million units sold is an impressive number, and for a game of this type a better figure then active players. Guild wars after all is a game that you dont have to be married to, so many players like myself come and go, making an 'active player count' utterly useless and laughable.

Cant stop now, need to hit 5 million, then maybe 6

can I please see these stats you speak of? If not, quit making WoW glorifying bullshit. Blizzard, when it says it has 9,000,000 members, is saying thats how many people have ever subscribed since 2004 when it was released. If you and BryantAgain want to promote the grind fest known as WoW, at least get your facts straight, or go talk about it in a forum where people actually care what you say regarding it.

Significantly diffrent.

GG.

WoW has more gold farmers.
Anyone is crazy if you think that out of 9 million players that only .11% are gold farmers. Chinese gold farmers flock to WoW like bees to honey.
No offense to Chinese players who aren't gold farmers!
Blizzard has banned up to 30,000 farming accounts in one month in the past.
It's so much easier to make money in GW than in WoW, and GW doesn't have as many servers as WoW. In order for gold sellers to remain competitive they have to rely and a huge number of bots on each server. Also players of subscription based games are more likely to buy gold because of the long term time and money investments involved in their characters.

Completely and utterly wrong.

World of Warcraft doesn't include canceled/quit players in their statistics, whereas Guild Wars does.

Quite a significant difference, indeed.

The WoW data uses the game's internal census protocol. The number 9,000,000 is counting only the players who have active accounts that have been used in the last 30 days or less.

*edit* Zinger's link has the info.

That, I will admit, was of my own ignorance. I did not clearly read the full thing properly.

But, have a look at this.

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/arti...s-Magic-Number

3.75 million in China

and you say WoW has less bots/gold farmers then GW...

No. It is too funny to argue with people who think WoW is fun.
